EDITORIAL
As a general rule my guiding principal is “never volunteer”, so what came over me at the AGM when I agreed to take on the role of the Editor of this Newsletter must have been some sort of brain storm!
Firstly I would like to thank Tammy and Jonathan for their sterling work in this capacity and only hope that I can live up to the standards they set.
The Winter Season so far has been quite productive; the AGM held on 10th November 07 led to some new Committee Members being elected and we hope they will bring with them some fresh ideas to maintain the growth of the Club. Membership though is still a priority so if you don’t belong please come and join us – you might just enjoy yourself and make some new friends!
There have been some issues this autumn involving British Waterways regarding increasing Licence Fees and Lock Keepers Hours that affect all Boaters and the Commodore and Committee Members have vigorously defended your rights at various meetings.
A programme of events is planned and some dates are reported
but these are subject to addition so please check the Web Site regularly for updates. (www.farndonboatclub.com)
The Autumn Newsletter is published on October 1st. so I look forward to receiving lots of copy about your Summer Trips from both far and near. You can e-mail me at francestuck@btconnect.com or bring it to “Domingo” on Pontoon B.
Well enough from me, I hope you all have a good cruising season and that the weather is kinder than last year.

COMMODORES REPORT
Happy New Year to you all, and welcome to our new members.
Over the Christmas period we held our annual Christmas Dinner at the Bromley Arms and had a New Years Eve Party in the Fjellgar, both were well supported and a good time was had by all.
The new season is nearly upon us with Easter being early this year and by the time you read this we will have had a trip to Hull. If anyone has any ideas for what you would like to do this season contact one of our Committee Members, we are always open to new ideas. Winter talks took place in January and February; they were well attended and are reported later on in the Newsletter.
We now have a new News Editor, Frances Tuck on Domingo, Pontoon B. If you have any photographs, reports or tales to tell please let her know.
I had a meeting at British Waterways Warwick Office attended by Robin Evans, the Chairman of British Waterways; I was surprised that he knew so little about the River Trent. This meeting was about the proposed increases in Licence Fees. David Dunning of the TBA has invited Mr Evans to visit Farndon in the spring to see first hand the problems we have on the Trent, such as moorings.
We would like to apologise for the cancellation of the Easter Cruise due to the very inclement weather and high winds but safety must come first.
Keep your eyes on the Notice Board and the Website for details of the coming years’ events.
